2008 Nissan GT RR

Spy Shots: 2008 Nissan GT-RReady to strike against Porsche?

by Hans Lehmann/Hidden Image

At last year's Tokyo Motor Show Nissan showed its GT-R concept, promising a new supercar in its lineup within two years. Now, TheCarConnection has the latest computer-generated illustrations of the production version of the 2008 Nissan GT-R, the Japanese company's answer to Porsche's 911 Turbo.

The GT-R is scheduled for a debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It will be the first of Nissan's long-lived line of supercars to make it to theU.S.market.

The GT-R will be powered by a new 3.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine producing about 450 hp, working in tandem with all-wheel drive and 20-inch tires. The new GT-R will, according to rumors, also be available with a seven-speed paddle-shifted gearbox. Better yet, we expect the GT-R to show up in showrooms with a pricetag tens of thousands of dollars less than the Porsche Turbo.
